1 in 4 girls experience domestic abuse at some point in their life. In order to combat this unacceptable trend, I've developed a campaign for young boys just entering the dating world to teach them healthy relationship behaviors. The campaign, called Respecther, informs and discourages the negative qualities found in abusers, and reinforces positive behaviors and actions in a relationship.

As children begin to go through adolescent changes in late elementary school, it can be a very hard time for acceptance by their peers. Bullying stems from this and can have long term and lasting effects on children. Being proactive in the classroom is the key to bullying prevention. It is vital for these young children to accept and appreciate all of their peer’s differences.

A refugee is someone who flees their country for fear of danger or discrimination. The Middle East produces more refugees than any other region in the world. "Exile" examines the experience and issues that Middle Eastern refugees face as well as providing steps for improving the refugee's situation.

My issue has deals with patient room environments, and its impact on patients. Research on this topic made me realize that patients don’t heal as well as they could. Designing a new product that helps patients have a better experience can affect how well they heal. So a product that can bring the outside environment into the patient room greatly affects their healing process.

These substances are openly listed on every food product label, but many people are unaware of the harmful chemicals they are ingesting when they consume artificial sweeteners. The purpose of TruSugar is to inform people about the dangers and health issues caused by consuming artificial sweeteners, as well as to make people aware that there are many safe alternatives.
Bipolar disorder affects approximately 2.5 million Americans, but many are not seeking help because the symptoms are similar to a bad day. Education is key to increasing the rate of proper diagnosis, and learning about and tracking the possible symptoms could reveal a patient's "chronic bad day" as bipolar disorder instead.

The ReThink Project is in place to inform the public of the dangers of prescription medications. The gross availability of medication has caused an uproar in overdose, miss-use, and accidental mishaps resulting in long term health problems and even death. It will also provide alternative options to Medicine. My hope is to lower the use of medicines and provide a healthier happy way of life.

How do you deal with your old electronic devices? Throw them straight into trash? Give them away? Or you somehow know how to get some money from the these items? However, if you do not dispose them properly, they become waste. Take a look at the big picture of Electronic Waste and how old electronics affect our environment.

Prescription drug abuse is quickly becoming one of the foremost problems among teens. Prescription drugs are appealing to curious teens because they are easier to obtain and legal to possess. Prescription drugs make up 9/10 of the most commonly abused drugs among teens, and are the most commonly abused drug among 12–13 year olds.
One million children each year experience the sadness surrounding divorce. Divorce has caused an increase in poverty and a decrease in income. But, the most important issue surrounding divorce is caused by miscommunication between parents and their children, Because of this, children may not feel cared for, can give up on love, and can grow up feeling insecure.

There are many people in the world that do not have a place to live, food to eat, nor clothes to wear. However, there are many people that have the time to help those in need. Helping means more than a monetary donation; give time to care and volunteer yourself.

Unfortunately the Gay and Lesbian community faces adverse discrimination from many political and religious organizations about equal marriage rights. The Support Love campaign has been designed to tell the stories of Gay and Lesbian couples and to shine the light on what really matters here, not politics or religious beliefs, but the people behind the discrimination.
Anabolic steroid use among our nation's youth is an alarming issue. The facts are alarming on both national and state levels. Arizona is towards the top of the nation in illegal steroid abuse among teen-aged youth, which could affect up to 24,000 individuals. While our youth may think they are building muscle, the "juice" may be causing irreversible damage.

Today, we know more about foods that promote optimal health and development than ever before. Yet, the number of people facing poor nutrition related, chronic conditions increases at epidemic rates. By educating young adults and encouraging investigation of food, greater value can be placed on proper nutrition, resulting in lifestyle changes that affect the individual, family, and community.

Disorders of sexual development are “congenital conditions in which development of chromosomal, gonadal, or anatomic sex is atypical.” The definition of older terms, such as “hermaphrodite” and “intersex”, are problematic because they label persons not conditions. These terms implicitly label patients with a gender, which is frequently inappropriate and incongruent with the patient's assigned or experienced gender.

Personal spending in America has been on the rise. High levels of materialism can have many adverse side effects, such as lower self–esteem, un-fulfillment, greed, debt, and waste. As consumers we need to question why we are buying certain items. We need to maintain a responsible attitude regarding debt and consumerism, and therefore, we must face materialism and the problems it causes.
100,000 Success Stories exists to tackle the confusion about healthy eating. The mass media floods the public with numerous ways to better our health, yet the obesity problem has continually gotten worse. I believe that people know what their body needs, and can inspire others as they progress to living a healthier life. That is success.
Soybeans, rice, tomatoes, potatoes, strawberries, corn, cotton, canola, and apples are typical examples of genetically modified vegetables we consume every day. However, possible concerns associated with growing genetically modified fruits and vegetables, such as generating new allergens or toxins, as well as antibiotics and herbicide resistance make organic foods a better alternative for your own health and that of future generations.

Arizona ranks lowest of the 50 states in per pupil spending, and is 49th in overall quality of education. Programs such as art, P.E., and music are being cut throughout the state. My goal is to make information on funding for education in Arizona easily accessible so we can make a difference in the lives of thousands of children.

Having a nutritious diet and being physically active are essential for healthy growth and development. According to Dr. Jeanette Betancourt, “This may be the first generation that may actually have a shorter lifespan than their parents, all due to issues around obesity or facts about nutrition and the amount of physical activity.”

Pet overpopulation is defined on paper as the over abundance of homeless pets in shelters. In actuality, the term is embodied by millions of cats and dogs that have an average of nine days to be adopted at a shelter. Through my exhibit, I hope to raise awareness about the importance of adopting pets, as well as highlight other solutions.
Nearly 1 in 20 college students have a gambling problem, but this issue is commonly overlooked. Gambling addiction is a compulsive need that can be devastating for both the individual and the family. The level of gambling may interfere with personal relationships, with school or work, and may include diversion of funds needed for other purchases to the gambling activity.

According to the Institute of Medicine, the United States is “the only wealthy, industrialized nation that does not ensure that all citizens have coverage.” More specifically, that means 47 million people uninsured. The Affordable Healthcare for America Act aims to address such issues. Under this act, 96% of all Americans would be covered, regardless of current health or income. Heal Health aims to clarify what the new act does for you.

Autism is a complex developmental disability that typically appears during the first three years of life, and affects a person’s ability to communicate and interact with others. Autism is defined by a certain set of behaviors and is a “spectrum disorder” that affects individuals differently and to varying degrees. Early identification and intervention is key to addressing the needs of children with autism.

The name of our city, Phoenix, was inspired by the people who built the irrigation canals thousands of years ago. My goal is to inform people living in this state how to coexist with their environment so we can preserve the true beauty of the desert and learn from our past mistakes so we don’t repeat them in the future.

The goal of my exhibit is to bring awareness of these expectations and how it negatively influences decisions in their life. The main angle of this influence comes from media that is constantly forcing unrealistic images and ideals on children.

Elephants that are employed by the circus are hardly able to survive the confinement and abuse they are subjected to, all merely for the purpose of our entertainment. Through the design and development of the campaign An Elephant Never Forgets, my hope is that I may increase the awareness of this often overlooked social issue and encourage widespread change.

Taking multivitamins on a daily basis is vital for long-term good health. 95% of your body’s daily functions depend on minerals. Liquid Nutrition is the ultimate method of delivering vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants effectively into your body. A solid form of nutrition can pass through your stomach and intestines before it even dissolves, giving you little-to-no benefit.
Perfection is an issue that effects young women across the United States. So many girls strive to be what what society percieves as "perfect" and many fail to realize that they will never reach this goal. Whether it be body image, intelligence, athletics, or creativity, no one will ever be perfect and we need to realize that this is okay.

The problem concerning the Gun Show Loophole is that anyone can obtain a firearm from a private individual at a gun show with no I.D, paperwork, or background check required. It is simply a cash-and-carry system that makes gun shows the second leading source of illegal firearm trafficking in the world.
Each year in the U.S., an estimated 20 million animals, including mice, rats, cats, worms, frogs, rabbits, pigs, dogs, sheep, and fish, are used in cruel, outdated teaching exercises. Roughly half of them are killed and used for dissection; others are tormented while they’re still alive in classroom biology experiments, psychology labs, and medical training. Using animals to experiment for education and research are unnecessary, since people can apply alternative testing methods and have the same result.

Suicide is a significant cause of death, in some cases exceeding deaths by motor vehicle accidents annually. Many countries spend vast amounts of money on safer roads, but very little on suicide awareness and prevention, or on educating people about how to make good life choices.
Wildlife trade is the third largest illegal trade in the world, falling just behind narcotics and guns. Animals are hunted and captured in the wild to be sold as exotic pets or used for tourist entertainment. Others are killed and served as exotic foods, used in traditional Chinese medicine or sold as souvenirs.

The National Institute of Mental Health estimates that ADHD affects over 2 million children. With millions of children diagnosed, the chances of having a child with ADHD in a classroom are high. Assign to Shine is a resource for teachers to find interactive methods to better a classroom. These methods are geared toward students with ADHD and for students without.
Patient falls are an enormous risk in the hospital environment, with most falls occurring while a weak patient attempts to get out of bed to use the restroom. Lumia, a series of illuminated and shock-absorbing guide tiles, has been conceived as an innovative attempt to resolve this issue.
