FAENZA法恩莎+Blakk DESIGNER INTERVIEW / 設(shè)計(jì)師采訪專欄:JAREN GOH, BLAKK編者按:今天,我們離藝術(shù)很近,設(shè)計(jì)師們通過作品載著我們寰宇飛行,在他們創(chuàng)作的宇宙中,我們將無限接近藝術(shù)的穹頂。但你真的讀懂了設(shè)計(jì)師的藝術(shù)化作品嗎?那些深刻、自由或包含批判性的創(chuàng)作理念,又該如何理解?FAENZA法恩莎 將推出 Designer 微訪談系列,通過對話縮短與設(shè)計(jì)師的距離,在有限的文字里,找到藝術(shù)生活的答案。 “ As a team, we always believe thatgood design should be simple yet complicated.Distinctive but make common senseat the same time.”“ 作為一個(gè)團(tuán)隊(duì),我們始終認(rèn)為好的設(shè)計(jì),應(yīng)該是簡單但又復(fù)雜,獨(dú)特且有意義的?!薄狫AREN GOH, BLAKK 設(shè)計(jì)團(tuán)體BLAKK & JAREN GOHJaren Goh,Blakk 新加坡聯(lián)合創(chuàng)始人及首席設(shè)計(jì) ,自創(chuàng)辦以來,已為眾多國際客戶創(chuàng)造了多個(gè)具有影響力的設(shè)計(jì)作品,曾因Rollertoaster 和Orangin 產(chǎn)品設(shè)計(jì)兩度獲得德國紅點(diǎn)獎(jiǎng)。Blakk 尤為擅長并熱衷于創(chuàng)造能成為空間中焦點(diǎn)、在商業(yè)上又可行性及顛覆性的產(chǎn)品和品牌,執(zhí)著于將無定性的、不妥協(xié)的設(shè)計(jì)從電子產(chǎn)品帶入到家居領(lǐng)域的商業(yè)設(shè)計(jì)中。 Q:1FAENZA法恩莎:作為FAENZA法恩莎 高端套系產(chǎn)品CIRKLE的主筆設(shè)計(jì)師,您的設(shè)計(jì)靈感來源于什么?JAREN GOH:To be honest, Its pretty hardfor me to pinpoint exactly what inspires a designexcept the fact that it’s a culmination of adesigner’s, everyday experiences, things we seeeveryday, things we do everyday, people weinteract with everyday, past and present. It’s asum of all these things.Unfortunately, there ?was no sudden epiphany forme. It’s the sum of all my experiences and yes,it comes with a lot of practice.說真的,我很難準(zhǔn)確地指出具體是哪個(gè)瞬間或者哪個(gè)事物激發(fā)了我的設(shè)計(jì)靈感。我想這個(gè)靈感,主要來自于一個(gè)設(shè)計(jì)師的日常的經(jīng)驗(yàn)。藝術(shù)很大部分來源采集點(diǎn)11.29于生活,譬如我們每天看到的東西,每天需要做的事情,人與人之間的互動(dòng)。有點(diǎn)遺憾,我沒有那種突如其來的靈感。這些都是我累積的經(jīng)驗(yàn),不管是過去還是現(xiàn)在,我的靈感就是我所有大量練習(xí)的經(jīng)驗(yàn)總和。 Q:2FAENZA法恩莎:CIRKLE 這套作品中你最滿意的細(xì)節(jié)是什么?JAREN GOH:I love the way we put the sink,faucet and vanity together into a seamless pieceof art. Simple geometrical shapes comingtogether is beautiful. Again the shower systemdesign is very satisfying for us. The final productwill not fail to attract your attention once youencounter it. That’s basically our motto as adesign company also:To design stuff that refuses to be ignored.So in summary, I like almost every aspect ofthis design. I think it’s a truly beautiful andintelligent piece. Giving full reins tothe designer only opens up 茶館ce for truly成都定制家具amazing products.我比較滿意的是,我們將洗臉盆、龍頭和盥洗臺這三個(gè)獨(dú)立且日常的衛(wèi)浴產(chǎn)品相互組合,設(shè)計(jì)成一個(gè)藝術(shù)品。我覺得看似簡單的幾何設(shè)計(jì)組合到了一起是很完美的。另外,雨淋式頭頂淋浴系統(tǒng)的設(shè)計(jì)也讓我們很喜歡。如果你看到了最終的成品,你也一定會(huì)被它吸引?!霸O(shè)計(jì)拒絕被忽視的產(chǎn)品”這是我們的設(shè)計(jì)初衷,也是我們設(shè)計(jì)團(tuán)隊(duì)始終秉承的宗旨??傊@個(gè)作品所設(shè)計(jì)的每個(gè)細(xì)節(jié)我?guī)缀醵己芟矚g。我認(rèn)為這個(gè)作品不僅美觀好看,也能讓人感受到其背后的設(shè)計(jì)巧思。另外我還想說的是,F(xiàn)AENZA法恩莎 品牌在委托我們創(chuàng)作設(shè)計(jì)時(shí),幾乎100% 放權(quán)讓我自由發(fā)揮。說真的,這對于一個(gè)甲方公司來說,是很少見的,因?yàn)橹挥凶屧O(shè)計(jì)師充分發(fā)揮,才能創(chuàng)造出獨(dú)特的設(shè)計(jì)作品。 Q:3FAENZA法恩莎:你提到CIRKLE 在設(shè)計(jì)中使用了幾何形狀,你認(rèn)為這是一個(gè)困難的過程嗎?JAREN GOH:Geometry in objects is natural andthe human eye is very attuned to spotting geometricalshapes and profiles. These are simple mathematicalshapes with the properties and relations of points,lines, surfaces, solids, and higher dimensionalanalogues. They are pleasing to the human eye.To create a new and original profile with standardgeometrical shapes we are already familiar withtakes time and effort. To make sure that the resultingprofile is also pleasing to the eye can be a challenge.物品的形體在日常生活中是很自然、人眼可以輕易的辨識的幾何形狀和輪廓。這些簡單數(shù)學(xué)形狀、點(diǎn)、線、面、實(shí)體及高錐等元素的組合使用,會(huì)達(dá)到讓人很賞心悅目的狀態(tài)。要將這些為人所熟知的幾何形狀,在人們腦中固有的印象里去創(chuàng)建一個(gè)新的形象,確實(shí)需要大量的時(shí)間與精力。還要確保這個(gè)幾何輪廓,能讓人眼前一亮,這可能還真是一個(gè)不容易的挑戰(zhàn)吧。 Q:4FAENZA法恩莎:你的作品很“直白”,這是你的個(gè)人風(fēng)格嗎?JAREN GOH:I think so. We have always believedthat design should not be cosmetic. Every detail andcomponent should be there for the simple reason tomake the product work. By the way, this is not“My style”.Actually, many great designers and their classicworks follow this simple formula. It was theprinciple taught in every design school from dayone. But its very difficult to practice it in real life,that’s why they are the great designers.Simplicity and practicability is not “my style”.Its Design 101.是吧。我一直認(rèn)為設(shè)計(jì)并不是為了裝飾,產(chǎn)品每個(gè)細(xì)節(jié)和組件的存在,只是為了讓它能正常運(yùn)作。但,這不是“我的風(fēng)格”。事實(shí)上,許多偉大設(shè)計(jì)師以及他們所創(chuàng)作的經(jīng)典作品都遵循了這個(gè)簡單的公式,每個(gè)設(shè)計(jì)學(xué)院從一開始也是傳輸給學(xué)生這樣的理念。但是在現(xiàn)實(shí)生活中卻很難實(shí)現(xiàn),這也是為什么他們能成為設(shè)計(jì)大師。簡單實(shí)用并不是“我的風(fēng)格”是設(shè)計(jì)最基本元素。Q:5FAENZA法恩莎:你可以簡單介紹一下你的設(shè)計(jì)之路嗎?JAREN GOH:I gradua 自我實(shí)現(xiàn)的需求主要指成全、展現(xiàn)個(gè)體自我的個(gè)性與目標(biāo),并能發(fā)揮自己的潛能及幫助他人獲得成長等,進(jìn)而產(chǎn)生意志自由、成熟健康的感覺。包括個(gè)體對創(chuàng)造力、解決問題能力、公正度等實(shí)現(xiàn)目標(biāo)和發(fā)揮潛能的需求。ted from Nanyangpolytechnic, Singapore in 2006. I wasn’t the beststudent or anything but I had this amazing lecturerthat probably changed several courses in my life.He wasn’t conventional and super straightforward.If a design is good, it’s good. If its bad you redo theproject. Nothing in?between and no need forexplanation. That’s the design culture he created inour class.Apparently the school system hates him for it.But I learnt my basics and I learnt never tocompromise in design.Then I started JG Design and later Blakk inSingapore which allowed me to work with manyinternational clients.We also started Munkii which is a designer furniturebrand for markets in US, Europe and China.2006年我從新加家坡南洋理工學(xué)院畢業(yè)。我并不是最優(yōu)秀的學(xué)生,但我有一位改變了我非常多、并且非常可敬的教授。他和一般的教授非常不同,他非常直率。一個(gè)作品是好的,那就是好的,如果不好,就重頭做過。沒有介于二者之間的存在,也無需過多解釋。這就是他在我們班上所創(chuàng)造的“設(shè)計(jì)文化”。學(xué)校的教學(xué)系統(tǒng)并不喜歡他這類老師。但在他這里,我學(xué)會(huì)了很多設(shè)計(jì)基本,以及一種在設(shè)計(jì)中永不妥協(xié)的基本原則。我在新加坡成立了JG Design,后續(xù)又創(chuàng)辦了Blakk Singapore,也因此與許多國際客戶有了合作的機(jī)會(huì)。我們還成立了一個(gè)面向美國、歐洲和中國市場的設(shè)計(jì)師家具品牌Munkii。時(shí)至今日,我們?nèi)匀蛔裱@個(gè)永不妥協(xié)的原則去完成每一項(xiàng)設(shè)計(jì)工作。Q:6FAENZA法恩莎:據(jù)說你和Munkii公司有很多故事?JAREN GOH:We were young then andwanted to design and create furniture pieces f環(huán)保整治romour own point of view. We have some successeswith the Vintage bookcase, Turing Barstool andAlpha & Beta lamps when we first exhibited inMilan in 2009.From Munkii, our design started to evolve into whatwe are today:to design luxury and premium products with oldschool design principles.那個(gè)時(shí)候,我們的團(tuán)隊(duì)還很年輕。我們希望能用我們自己的理念來設(shè)計(jì)和創(chuàng)作家具產(chǎn)品。2009年我們受邀在米蘭首次展出了我們的家具作品——Vintage書柜、Turing椅和Alpha & Beta 燈,因此在業(yè)內(nèi)備受矚目。從Munkii 這里開始,我們逐漸發(fā)展出了現(xiàn)在的設(shè)計(jì)模式:用傳統(tǒng)的設(shè)計(jì)方式及思維,設(shè)計(jì)高級、優(yōu)質(zhì)的產(chǎn)品。 Q:7FAENZA法恩莎:CIRKLE是你為FAENZA設(shè)計(jì)的第一個(gè)作品,有什么經(jīng)驗(yàn)?zāi)隳芊窒斫o我們的嗎?JAREN GOH:I have highlighted about Faenzaearlier, I am lucky we always get clients that allowdesigners to free-range. As a consumer myself,we know how our society today is packaged in toomuch commercialization and advertising gimmicks.Its very rare for companies to allow artists to beartists and designers to be designers.I cannot stress how important this is for creativityand innovation. I think you guys have created acompany culture where design and originality isrespected and revered.就像我前面提到的,我們很幸運(yùn)總是能遇到像FAENZA法恩莎 這類客戶,能給到設(shè)計(jì)師極大的發(fā)揮空間。作為一個(gè)消費(fèi)者,我們都知道現(xiàn)在市面上許多產(chǎn)品被太多夸張的品牌包裝與廣告噱頭包圍。所以說,允許藝術(shù)家和設(shè)計(jì)師原汁原味地發(fā)揮所長,在現(xiàn)在的企業(yè)中是非常罕見的,這種優(yōu)秀的觀念對于創(chuàng)造力和創(chuàng)新的發(fā)揮,也是十分重要的。我認(rèn)為,F(xiàn)AENZA法恩莎已經(jīng)創(chuàng)造了一種尊重設(shè)計(jì)與創(chuàng)意的企業(yè)文化。 Q:8FAENZA法恩莎:從你的角度來說,你認(rèn)為CIRKLE這套產(chǎn)品所要表達(dá)的的設(shè)計(jì)精髓是什么?JAREN GOH:Cirkle is designed with oneobjective in mind: to awe.We wanted to create a product that is simple yetcomplicated. Distinctive yet making practical senseat the same time. Yes, its sort of an oxymoron butthis is the crux of the entire design: straight linesconverg石鱗ing with large curves or the arrangementof various geometrical shapes to create one an eyecatching profile.Cirkle is meant to be that fixture that commandsattention in any 茶館ce. Our purpose is to createsomething that makes you look and think,something that creates conversion, something thatis NOT designed to be ignored. I hope we have donethat with Cirkle.CIRKLE 的設(shè)計(jì)目的只有一個(gè):讓人眼前一亮。我們想創(chuàng)作出一個(gè)簡約又復(fù)雜,獨(dú)特又兼具實(shí)用性的產(chǎn)品。這是一種具有矛盾性的沖突設(shè)計(jì),但這也是整個(gè)設(shè)計(jì)的關(guān)鍵之處,直線與大曲線之間相互交錯(cuò)形成的幾何形體,創(chuàng)造了一個(gè)引人注目的輪廓造型。CIRKLE 旨在成為在任何空間都能引人矚目的裝置。我們的目的是希望創(chuàng)作一些能引發(fā)思考的東西,把普通日常的家居配置變成了不可忽視的藝術(shù)家居,我希望,CIRKLE 的設(shè)計(jì)達(dá)到了這個(gè)目的。 Q:9FAENZA法恩莎:在設(shè)計(jì)過程中,你是否認(rèn)為CIRKLE這套產(chǎn)品很難實(shí)現(xiàn)出來?JAREN GOH:Of course. It ?is ?sinfully ?and ?insanely difficult ?to ?make. But like every productever made, a design is only an idea until thephysical product can be produced or created. Forthis, I would personally like to thank Faenza’sR & D department. They have worked closely withthe design team to passionately and painstakinglycreate Cirkle. The process from blueprint to producttook 2 years of unwavering effort and commitment.And their effort is evident in every attention todetails in the product.對的。CIRKLE 的制作難度相當(dāng)大。和所有產(chǎn)品一樣,設(shè)計(jì)只是一個(gè)想法,當(dāng)這個(gè)創(chuàng)意變成實(shí)際的產(chǎn)品被生產(chǎn)出來時(shí),是需要耗費(fèi)很大的時(shí)間與精力的。在這里,我也要感謝FAENZA法恩莎的研發(fā)部門,是他們與設(shè)計(jì)團(tuán)隊(duì)的緊密合作,共同實(shí)現(xiàn)了CIRKLE 這套產(chǎn)品,從設(shè)計(jì)藍(lán)圖到產(chǎn)品上市,這個(gè)過程一共花費(fèi)了兩年的時(shí)間,大家對產(chǎn)品所做出的努力與承諾,都表現(xiàn)在了產(chǎn)品的細(xì)節(jié)上。Q:10FAENZA法恩莎:未來是否還會(huì)與FAENZA有其他合作呢?JAREN GOH:I believe there will be. Cirkle is thefirst entry in a proposed luxury designer seriesfrom Faenza. And with the company’s uniqueculture of letting designers do what they do best,I am sure Faenza will continue to put out exclusiveand interesting products in the future.我相信這一定會(huì)有的。CIRKLE 系列是我們和FAENZA法恩莎的第一個(gè)高端設(shè)計(jì)系列產(chǎn)品,法恩莎是一個(gè)對設(shè)計(jì)師保留極大創(chuàng)作空間的公司,一直在讓設(shè)計(jì)師做他們做擅長的事情。所以,我覺得FAENZA法恩莎未來一定還會(huì)有更多獨(dú)特且有意思的設(shè)計(jì)產(chǎn)品推出。
